As a Minnesotan, I have often traveled to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Marquette has become the gem in area. Whenever I head north to Yopper-Land (a play on the accent of the northern Michigan's folks) Marquette is on the list of cities to visit. Not only does it have old Midwestern charm, but it house some of the best food and breweries along Lake Superior. As a destination the UP often gets the wrap for only being good in the heat of the summer- when the cool lake breeze is blessing- or in the winter- when lake effect snow gives the perfect environment for all winter sports from snowmobiling to snow-shoeing.
